Items in Water in Deep Dish Dungeon

On Steam patch 1.0.51.0, a death pack in water should float on the surface; check there before assuming its contents have sunk.

Check the right container

Patch 1.0.50.0 changed what happens on death: the Backpack stays on the player, while items not kept go into a larger death pack. If the death pack entered water, the 1.0.51.0 note says it floats on the surface and follows the ground level.

  1. Check the surface near the place where the death pack entered the water.
  2. If the death occurred in mid-air, check the last solid ground: patch 1.0.51.0 puts the death pack there.
  3. If a death pack or Backpack fell below the world, check camp or spawn. The same patch says those packs return there.

Loose items and older versions

Patch 1.0.47.0 says Backpacks and death packs wash ashore like ordinary items instead of sinking out of sight. The later 1.0.51.0 note gives the more specific surface behavior for death packs; it does not state that every loose item has identical recovery behavior.

For an older build, a previously lost pack, or a different platform, these notes do not guarantee that missing items will reappear. Check the applicable version and the surrounding shore as well as the water.

A missing treasure has another option

Since 1.0.50.0, the host can recover a lost treasure from the Catalogue, even if it ended up in another player’s inventory. This applies to the documented treasure recovery, not a promise to restore every ordinary material or an entire death pack.

What the patch notes establish

These checks follow the developer’s Steam notes for 1.0.47.0, 1.0.50.0 and 1.0.51.0. They describe the intended changes; they do not establish recovery of every earlier loss or a successful test on every platform.
