THE FIELD GUIDE / GUIDE
Deep Dish Dungeon Enemies and How to Respond
Bats can force you to manage distance, skeletons can rise near a treasure, and a hostile apparition needs a different weapon: the Silver Dagger. For the giant eel, a player guide describes draining its arena and attacking while it is stranded; the sewer’s Giant Slime can be passed without treating it like a breakable goo pile. These are documented encounters, not a complete bestiary.

Recognize the encounter
Use the enemy and the situation, not a single tactic for every encounter. The following examples come from launch-period player reports and official full-game patch notes.
| Enemy | What makes the encounter different | First response |
|---|---|---|
| Bat / Red Bat | Flying enemies; the two damage values were changed separately in patch 1.0.50.0 | Create space; a player suggests attacking a bat after it returns to its roost |
| Simple skeleton / Queen | Simple skeletons can wake; the Queen encounter follows taking her Crown | Watch the skeletons near the Crown and prepare before picking it up |
| Hostile apparition | A ghost that requires visibility and a suitable weapon | Use a Vision Elixir to see it and the Silver Dagger to damage it |
| Giant Moray Eel | A flooded arena with valves | Lower the water and attack while the eel is stranded |
| Giant Spider | A large prison encounter | One player reports defeating it while on its abdomen; the Tomato Gem is its reward |
| Giant Slime | A moving sewer obstacle, distinct from a stationary goo pile | Wait for it to pass or take an available route around it |
Bats: make room before striking
In a Steam discussion, player meepmerp suggests drawing a bat’s attention, stepping back until it flies away, and attacking after it returns to its roost. This is a player-reported tactic for bats, not a guarantee against every variant.
Official patch 1.0.50.0 changed Bat damage from 35 to 25 and Red Bat damage from 45 to 35; its notes also increased the bat respawn timer from 10 to 20 minutes. Older numerical guides may describe the earlier values.
Skeletons and the Queen
The official 1.0.50.0 notes say simple skeletons do not wake near a Carranca statue. In DocNovak’s Crown route, the skeletons rise after the Crown is taken, so prepare for a fight before removing it.
Another player reports that moving behind a skeleton can break its attention and create an opening; treat this as a player tactic rather than a guaranteed fix for a skeleton that is not taking damage. The statue note specifically says simple skeletons, so do not assume it applies to the Queen.
Hostile apparitions: reveal and damage them
Yamamaru Niki’s item guide says a Vision Elixir made from the blue mushroom reveals ghosts, and that the Silver Dagger damages hostile apparitions. Prepare the elixir before searching and bring the dagger.
The friendly ghost involved in the Medicine Bottle task is a different interaction. The item guide’s full-game route is from October 2026; its exact build and platform are not stated.

Giant Moray Eel: lower the water
DocNovak describes the giant eel in the flooded room beyond the red bat cave. Move around the arena and turn the four valves to lower the water; when the eel is stranded in the center, attack it. The player guide says the sequence must be repeated before it is defeated, after which it drops the Guarana Gem.
This is an October 2026 player-described route with no precise build or platform recorded. Ordinary eels are a different encounter; do not assume the boss’s valve sequence applies to them.
Giant Spider and Giant Slime
The Giant Spider is the prison encounter associated with the Tomato Gem. Steam player MegaZord0525 reports defeating the spider while sitting on its abdomen; the report does not establish that this position works in every version or group.
For the moving Giant Slime in the sewers, a player suggests waiting until it passes and walking by. Patch 1.0.50.0 also says the Giant Slime corridor’s water and objects were adjusted to create routes around it. A stationary goo pile is a separate obstacle that can be broken with a Pickaxe.

Version and coverage
The official balance numbers above are from Steam patch 1.0.50.0; patch 1.0.51.0 followed on October 23, 2026. Player-reported tactics have no confirmed exact build. These examples are not an exhaustive roster, and no health or weakness is assigned to an enemy without matching evidence.
