Deep Dish Dungeon Crossplay: Steam and Xbox
Yes, Deep Dish Dungeon supports crossplay between Steam and Xbox, including playing with friends on Game Pass. Choose a host, keep Online enabled, and check the room name, visibility and password before looking for the session through Join. Steam friends also have an invitation option.

Which versions can play together?
Steam and Xbox are the confirmed crossplay pairing. Xbox Wire specifically names Steam and Xbox consoles, and developer Saulo Camarotti says a Game Pass player can play with a friend on Steam. Buying through the same store is not required for that pairing.
The launch FAQ lists Steam on Windows and macOS, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming as ways to play. The platform list does not promise an identical invitation screen on every device.
Plan for a host and up to two friends, following the official FAQ. For the conflicting four-player store label and mod options, see the co-op guide.
Set up a lobby and look for your friend
The captured full-game menus show Online, New Game and Join. New Game has a Game Name, Password Protected setting and Public switch; Join opens the available-games list, with a search-by-game-name dialog. Use these controls to check the host’s session rather than searching for their account name.
These menu captures are from full build 1.0.44.0; wording can differ by language or update. They show the controls available, not a completed Steam-to-Xbox connection test. If the other service cannot see the room, use the checks below.
- Both players should install available updates and open the full game. Check that Online is enabled on the main menu.
- Choose one player to host. For a new world, open New Game, give it a recognizable Game Name, and share that exact name with the guest. Use Load to return to an existing world instead of starting over.
- If you are trying to find the room in the public-games list, set Public to On. If you set a password, share it separately with your friend.
- The host creates or loads the world and stays in the session. The guest opens Join, refreshes the list and uses its search option to look for the Game Name.
- If the room appears, check its name and player count, select it and choose Join. Enter the host’s password if prompted.
Invite a friend through Steam
When both players use Steam, the developer describes the host selecting a friend from the Steam friends list and sending an invitation. The guest accepts it and enters the lobby password if the host set one. Friends can also join a session already in progress.
That example describes Steam friends. It does not establish how an Xbox player would receive a Steam invitation. The Lobby ID carried inside the invite is not a documented room code for players to copy into an Xbox menu.
Room missing, password rejected or joining fails?
Check the lobby settings first. The suggestions below help narrow down a connection problem; changing a setting is not a guaranteed crossplay fix.
If the problem continues, try the other player as host as a diagnostic step. Record both services, the build numbers shown on the menus, the room settings and the exact error for a bug report. Matching the latest update available on each service is a useful check; it does not mean the services always receive patches together.
Players have reported both an Xbox guest entering a crossplay session and Steam–Xbox room-name searches failing. A missing result therefore does not, by itself, mean crossplay is unsupported.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No games appear | Check Online on both menus. Have the host remain in the world, then refresh the guest’s Join list. |
| Your friend’s room is missing | Compare the exact Game Name, including any changed default name. For public-list discovery, check Public is On and search again. |
| The room appears but cannot be joined | Check the listing’s player counter and any error message. Confirm the password with the host and install available updates on both services. |
| A removed password still seems to apply | Steam patch 1.0.47.0 fixed removing lobby passwords. Update, have the host recheck the setting, and retry from Join. |
| Duplicate rooms or odd search results | Steam patch 1.0.50.0 addressed duplicate lobbies and a search-filter issue. Update and refresh the list; console patch timing may differ. |
| You join, but voice does not work | Treat this separately from finding the lobby: check each player’s microphone and voice settings. A player reported voice trouble after an Xbox guest had already joined. |
What about other platforms?
The cited launch FAQ does not announce another platform beyond its Steam and Xbox options. Check an official release announcement before planning a session on an unlisted system.
Crossplay lets players share a session. It does not by itself promise that a Steam save or character transfers to the Xbox version; Steam-to-Xbox cross-progression is not confirmed here.
