Black Beans in Deep Dish Dungeon

Check the dining hall side rooms

Start with the side rooms around the large dining hall with bats, three offering stands and a golden door. DocNovak’s player guide places the ingredients for the three required dishes in these rooms, including the Black Beans for Bean Soup.

If you have already collected the nearby ingredients and still need beans, try the cave route below rather than waiting for the rooms to refill.

1. Find the dining hall and use the three offering stands as your starting landmark.
2. Search the adjoining side rooms for ingredients and collect any Black Beans you find.
3. Set aside two Black Beans for the door puzzle before using the rest as food.

Find the bean plants beyond the sewers

For another place to search, head through the sewers toward the cave with bean plants described by player tank7013. Bring a Hammer, a Pickaxe, a Chain and an Iron Rod so you can clear the obstacles and repair the mechanism along the way.

The repaired mechanism and bean plants are the useful landmarks on this route; the original directions do not specify every junction or turn.

1. Enter the sewers from the main hall. Break rusted bars with the Hammer and clear Goo Piles with the Pickaxe where they block your route.
2. Look for the broken mechanism and repair it with a Chain and an Iron Rod to open the paths onward.
3. Follow the opened paths into the cave and search for bean plants. Collect Black Beans and keep at least two for soup.

Cook Bean Soup

Use two Black Beans in the Cooking Pot to make Bean Soup. This combination was used successfully for the dining hall puzzle in PC Game Trace’s solo PC Game Pass playthrough.

Keep the soup for the offering until you have opened the door. If you are following an older recipe clue, Steam patch 1.0.50.0 corrected the Bean Soup hint.

1. Make a separate batch with two Black Beans in the Cooking Pot.
2. Follow the pot’s cooking prompts, collect the finished dish and check that its name is Bean Soup.
3. Bring the soup to the dining hall together with Stew and Cooked Veggies.
4. Put one of each finished dish on the three offering stands to open the golden door.

Do beans grow back?

Bean-plant regrowth and its timer are not confirmed. Keep two beans for the offering instead of relying on a harvested plant to refill.
