How to Use Armor in Deep Dish Dungeon
Keep armor in a main hotbar slot to use its protection; check its item description for damage reduction and any movement-noise tradeoff.

Put armor in the main hotbar
Move the armor from a chest or backpack into an available slot on the main item bar. Mod author kvotheous describes the unmodified game as counting armor in the hotbar; their separate mod changes the rule so armor in a worn backpack can count too.
The armor consumes carrying space. In a full-game recording, Detailed Armor remains in the lower item bar while the player uses a sword and torch; it is not shown as a separate paper-doll equipment slot.
Check the item and its effects
Open the inventory and point at the armor to read its description. In one full-game recording, Detailed Armor is in the item bar and its tooltip explicitly says ARMOR EQUIPPED, with damage reduction and movement noise values.
In that recording the tooltip shows +35% damage reduction and +50% noise while moving. Those are the values displayed for that item in that session, not a tested bonus for every version. Stumpt’s recording also shows a Leather Armor tooltip with protection and movement noise.
The slot and equipped tooltip let you check the setup. They do not independently measure damage taken or prove how several armor pieces combine.
- Confirm the armor is in the main hotbar rather than stored in a chest or in backpack-only space.
- Read its tooltip for the protection and movement-noise effects that item lists.
- Keep it in the bar while you use other equipment. Moving it to storage frees the slot but removes it from the ordinary hotbar check.

Plan space for your other gear
Armor and a shield each take up room in the item bar. Armor is counted from the bar according to the mod author’s description of the base game; a shield has a separate active blocking action when equipped.
Do not add the numbers from multiple pieces together without checking your version. The available original sources do not establish their combined calculation.
